Beauty Battle - BH x Shaaanxo The OG vs The Remix

by - Tuesday, May 01, 2018

Hello everyone!

Coming back to you with a new make up battle! I already had plans to do a review on a palette that I have recently purchased, but thought it would cool to do it as my make up battle post. The palette shown above is by BH Cosmetics x Shaaanxo The Remix Palette. It is a second and newest version of the OG palette that Shaaanxo has came with previously. The first one only includes the first 9 shades (bronze side) plus another 9 lipstick colours. The second, however, includes 18 shades, as seen on the picture. I decided to get the Remix because I was not really a fan of the lipsticks because I knew I would not use them, whereas 18 shades sounded much better for me. This battle will compare both sides together and conclude which side is better in my opinion. Keep reading to find out more!

BH Cosmetics x Shaanxo The Remix
£18, BeautyBay

This palette is definitely one of its kind, I have not yet come across (until this one) a palette that is two sided. I think this is so cool because it makes it so much easier to travel with and does not take up too much space in my make up storage. As well as the palette, the packaging is different on both sides, which makes it even more prettier and I am loving the pink!

The OG - Bronze Side.

I know what you all gonna think or say - this looks exactly like Kylie Cosmetics' Bronze Palette. But the truth is that Shaaanxo has dropped her palette way earlier than Kylie, so actually many accused Kylie of copying, not the other way around. There are many similarities, especially the structure, but some shades are definitely different. Comparing it to Kylie's Bronze palette, I decided to get this one because 1. It is almost the same, 2. It costs less but is as good, 3. it comes with double the shades on the other side. I don't know about you guys, but I kind of gave up on Kylie Cosmetics because living in the UK, any product that costs more than £15 has to be calculated with customs which are usually around £20, so that's a definite no from me. You can find my review on Kylie's products that I do own here -> KYLIE COSMETICS

Now onto the shades - I find them so blendable and so beautiful, but my only problem is the shimmer shades. They look so beautiful when swatched on my skin but when put on the eye, I have to admit they do not look as good. It takes a lot of repetitive coats of the shade for it to 'shimmer', otherwise it just does not show. I tried to create many looks with this and always had to use my other palettes for shimmer shadows, which isn't the greatest. What I like, is that there is not as much fall out as I thought there would be, and I definitely will not give up on it just because the shimmers aren't as good as I would want them to be.

The Remix - Burgundy/Pink Side

This side of the palette is the remix side - beautiful Burgundy/Pink shadows that are just the great addition to the palette. I think besides the really bright pink (Baby Girl) all can be used on a daily basis for me. The last 5 shades are pressed powders but for me that does not make any difference. When using this side, I did not have the same problems with the shimmer shades which made me so happy. These are also as blendable as the OG side, so definitely a big plus!

Those who tried comparing this side to the Burgundy palette by Kylie Cosmetics should just close their mouth because there is barely any resemblance. I think what made me obsessed with this palette the most is that I can mix both sides together and make so many cool looks, you literally get so many opportunities to play with this palette.

So who is the real winner? Which side is better?
Well...
Personally I prefer the bronze side when it comes to the colours but the quality is so much better on the Remix side. There is no fall out on both sides but the Remix side I think is just tiny better for blending the shadows, the shimmers definitely show up on the eye unlike with the bronze side, and the pressed powders (5 last shades) are just amazing.

My result would be that both sides mixed together are the winners of this battle.
I would love to hear your opinions in the comments and see which side you guys prefer. If any of you own the palette please also state which side you prefer to work with! Always reading your comments and always thankful for your support.

Love, Olivia xo

I've been thinking about getting this palette for a while now. I definitely prefer the remix side though the original side is very pretty as well. May I ask what did you mean when you said that 5 shades in the remix side are pressed powders? Aren't all the shades pressed powders or is there a difference?

    1. According to Shaaanxo, the 5 shadows are called pressed shadows instead eye shadows because they contain red dye and not everyone can use it as it can have an effect on their eye. For more info check Shaaanxo video at 2.00 minutes exactly ->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pEoU4p5Ytw xo

    1. Thank you! From the Remix Side it has to be BESTIE as matte and ISLAND GLOW as shimmer, and from the Bronze OG side it is definitely CLARITY as matte and AVOCADO as shimmer.
