Hi, dolls!
I know it's been a while since I've done a blog post, but catching up with school, private life, work and my blog can be really difficult. However, I am back today with a new blog post - I want to review the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill eyeshadow palette. If you're interested to find out more about this palette, let's get right into the review!
Jaclyn Hill - for all of you that might not know - is a famous youtuber/influencer who has done many make up collaborations with beauty brands before this palette came out. I wouldn't say that I am the biggest fan of any of the beauty youtubers, but I do like the products Jaclyn came out with. The drama side to all these beauty influencers however - as interesting as it might be, I just try not to focus on that and just pay attention to the beauty items/stuff they do and come out with.
This palette was released around a year ago and although wanting it so badly, I have only purchased it recently. The reasons for that are simple - at first, it wasn't available in the UK and I was not going to pay customs, second - I didn't think I would use this many shades. But the more I saw it, the more I wanted it and finally just bought it without having any regrets. I got it at the beginning of June, so after a whole month of using it, I can finally do a full review and share my opinions on it with you guys. The palette costs £37, which is definitely higher than any usual Morphe palette, but from what I have read/heard, Jaclyn has used 'better' formulas for these shadows - please don't quote me on that because it might not be 100% accurate. However, I do feel like this collab had to be a bit more expensive, because otherwise it would not stand out from their other palettes as it does now. Plus, for the amount of shades you are getting, the price is really not that bad!
The swatches:
I am very curious to find out which of these 3 photos of swatches you like best when it comes to the shades. I am definitely more in love with the first two, and the last one did not really speak to me, except the minty colours. As some of you might be aware already, mattes from Morphe are a bit chalky, and that is the case with this palette too - but only when swatching. I don't seem to have this problem when putting them on my eyelids which is definitely a good thing. The shimmers - it takes one swipe to swatch them (that's how pigmented they are!!) but they do have some fall out when putting on the eye. Once again, this is not a problem to me because I always do my eye look first and then go on to do my face, but for people that tend to do their make up the other way around it can definitely be annoying.
I wanted to show you guys the difference - above is a picture of the palette when it arrived, below is a picture of the palette after a month of constant use. There is barely any kick back in the palette - the last row has it the most because of the swatches I was doing and how chalky they are.
To conclude - I am in love with this palette! I love the shade range, how pigmented they are, how little kickback there is in this palette & how many amazing looks you can create!
What I would improve - The palette is definitely missing a light shade like the first two (that are shimmers) in a matte version, for pale ass people like myself. Second, there are too many browny shades that could be changed to more funky shades like that beautiful blue and mint colour! Last, and most important I think - ADD a mirror!!! A palette this HUGE should have a MIRROR with it. It makes me not want to travel with this palette because I'd have to carry another palette or a separate mirror which just doesn't make it travel friendly for me lol.
As always, thank you for reading my review, and please let me know in the comments whether or not you have tried this palette and your opinions about it. I saw that the new VAULT - second round of Morphe x Jaclyn Hill is coming but for now it doesn't look interesting for me, because it kind of reminds me of this palette + all the drama around it doesn't make me want to buy it. Maybe with time it will become more attractive to me.
Love, Olivia xo

i've always wanted to try out a morphe palette, i've pretty much seen the jaclyn Hill Palette pretty much everywhere on social media.i love the shade range there's scope to play around with it you could go to town with it with either drastic or subtle warm toned looks and the pigmentation as per your swatches looks really great :O does the shimmer shades pick up well with the fingers or is it better to use a brush?
ReplyDeleteI would say using it with fingers might give you a better outcome, more pigmented one but it works with brushes just as good!
Deletemissed your posts! this palette looks so yummy and ur swatches are always so beautiful :O
ReplyDeleteThank u love!
DeleteI totally agree to adding a mirror to the palette especially how much of a big hit this is it would just be so helpful
ReplyDeleteYup! It would been so much easier to use on the go!
DeleteI agree with the get rid of some of the browns and add some more funky colors! That's what has kept me from this palette actually, is that I wish it had more colors to it other than the blue and pinks. Also, it definitely needs a mirror, especially as a collab and not just part of the Morphe 35 series. Thank you for this post, loved it!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, this palette is one of my faves but if it had other colours in it it would deffo be one of the best ones ever!
DeleteThis is a dream palette. I love the 2nd arm swatches the best. But would use lighter ones for halo look. And dark ones for a smokey look
ReplyDeleteIt really is a dream palette for both of the looks you've mentioned <3
DeleteI have just been building my makeup collection. I’ve had health problems the last 5 years so I hadn’t gotten anything new till recently. One of the items I still need is a palette. I’d love to get this Morph one because it has colors that aren’t too bright & Im over 40 so these shades work best for me

DeleteThis palette is so gorgeous. If I had to pick a swatch arm as a fav. I would have to pick #2. Cause I love the purple.
ReplyDelete2nd hand swatch is deffo one of my faves too. The purple looks amazing!!
DeleteI love everything about this palette It’s my #1 in my wishlist. It’s perfect because it has a lot of different shades and you can do a lot of type of looks. The pigmentation is bomb. I totally agree that it should have a mirror too. Thank you for the opportunity. ♥️

This is sooo sweet of you! This palette is absolutely stunning! ๐ thank you so much for this awesome chance ๐ค
ReplyDeleteOmg so many choices all the colours are amazing๐๐
ReplyDeleteFirstly, thank you for this review. I had been wanting to try this palette for a long time and my bestie got it for my bday this year :) I love it. I love how pretty it looks, i love how stunning the shimmers are. However, I completely agree with the matte white because I like putting on a base white color so that the other colors pop up a bit more on my skintone.. otherwise, i love this palette. I think i am most obsessed that that matte, mustard yellow. I have nothing like it and i really love it! Thanks for sharing ur review
