Hi, dolls!
As already mentioned, I recently decided to give Kylie Cosmetics another go and purchased her Burgundy Palette which I have been loving ever since. You can read my two previous Kylie Cosmetics' reviews here:
- Click HERE for my first ever post on Kylie where I review a lot of her products,
- Click HERE for the Burgundy Palette review.
Although I hate paying customs and any sort fees on top of all of the money that is being spend on Kylie's products, the Halloween sale just kept calling my name and once again, I made another order.
I've spent exactly 61 dollars to receive free shipping - I was going to pay customs fees anyway, so I thought getting items for 60 dollars (which is the minimum for free international shipping) is a better option than getting only the eyeshadow palette and paying almost 15 dollars for shipping. Royal Peach Palette has always been on my want-it-list but customs, and its price, has always stopped me from getting it. On Halloween, the palette was reduced to 40% off, which worked out to 27 dollars, and I think it's a good price for it. Anything over 30 dollars can be labelled as 'more' expensive, making it difficult for many of us to get it, especially for international orders that pay horrible amounts of customs on top of all. The other two items I wanted to try from Kylie were her two lipsticks - one creme and one matte. I love love love normal tube lipsticks, and I've always wanted to try her formulas, but I've never got around to order it, so I'm happy I finally had the chance to get them and now review them.
First of all - I think the palette is stunning! Nothing comparing to the Burgundy Palette packing wise. This palette is much heavier, bigger and so much better quality. I was shocked to see how big it is! I love the packaging and I think it makes the palette stand out even more, and definitely is way better than the Burgundy Palette's packaging.
One thing I always worry about when I order any eyeshadow palettes, is whether or not the colours will be as pigmented and as nice as they look on pictures. I obviously have had high hopes from Kylie before ordering this palette because the Burgundy Palette is so pigmented and to be honest with you all, this palette is almost as good pigment wise, but still I don't think it's the same. I think the colours in the palette are stunning and to die for, I just love them! I know it's hard to think of many looks with these light colours only - many people would rather have a palette that has either a light colour for a base or at least a brown shade, but I really think that this palette is so fun to play with and if it doesn't have all the shades you are looking for - you can always mix it with other palettes. The only reason why I said it's not the same level of pigmentation as my Burgundy Palette, is because when swatching, I had more problems with the mattes and its pigmentation, which did not happen with my Burgundy Palette. Yes, it is totally normal that the Royal Peach Palette is of a different formula than the Burgundy one, therefore many of you might be wondering why I am 'complaining' or simply saying that the Burgundy one worked better for me as swatches, but for me the answer is simple - when you are used to working with a palette from a company that swatches so good and has so much pigment, then you are obviously going to expect all of the company's palettes to work the same or just as good way.
However, in no way I am saying that this palette is bad - because it is not. I just had trouble swatching some of its mattes - like Sandy and Cinnamon, which I found to be patchy. Let's talk about Royal. It was very hard to swatch, which definitely made me disappointed because it is definitely the main colour of this whole palette. On the other hand, all the metallic shadows were AMAZING. If there is one thing I love about Kylie Cosmetics' shadow, is that their metallic ones are always so good! (although it is very rare to find bad metallic or shimmer shadows)
Let's keep in mind one thing - the shadows might swatch bad but it in no way means that they will perform bad on the eyes. However, sometimes it can be disappointing when a certain shadow shade that you were excited about, does not swatch the way you'd think it would do - in this case Royal.
After applying the shadows on my eyes, I have to say that they are very pigmented, there is a lot of fallout but I think that happens with all the Kylie palettes, so I'm not very mad at that. The shadows definitely work better on the eyes than they did when swatched on my arms, and that definitely matters the most. I am yet to play around with all of the shades more and create more looks, but so far my experience with this palette has definitely been positive.
My favourite shadow so far is MOHITO - I think it's a very unique colour that can be barely found in any eyeshadow palettes and it just looks so beautiful on the eye, whether applied on its own or on top of another colour. Queen Bee is also super pigmented, and the gold will look amazing on anyone! So far, only Sandy is a shade that I wouldn't really reach for because of its shade. Other than that, I definitely love this palette and would recommend it to all of you. I would however, keep in mind that for many people this palette could only be fun when used with another one that has more of 'everyday' colours such as everyone's favourites browns etc. so, if you are somebody that wants this to be used on it's own, it can be a struggle to create many looks out of it, without a help from another 'everyday' palette.
Lastly, the two other items that I have purchased were the Kylie lipsticks - one matte and one creme. Ever since Kylie has introduced creme lipsticks I've been dying to try them out, as I prefer these type of lipsticks over any liquid ones. I decided to pick one creme and one matte, so I can review both and compare the two formulas. It was really tough to pick the colour that would suit me, as with Kylie Cosmetics, you cannot really see the true colour of the item - they do not provide swatches on 'every' skin tone, or at least some, but rather put what each colour looks like on Kylie lips. This has tricked me many times before, for example thinking Dolce K would be this beautiful nude on my lips, like on Kylie's, where in real life, on my pale af skin it was just a really dark brown.
The two lipsticks I've decided to get are - Give Me a Kiss creme lipstick from the Kris Collection and Nova matte lipstick, which originally was from the Weather Colletion, but now is sold separately. I thought that these two shades would be the closest to what I usually wear - for those interested, my go to lipstick at the moment is PINKIES UP Lux Lipstick by Colourpop.
Before I talk about the swatches and the colours, I have to mention two things. Firstly, Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks are smaller than any regular lipstick, for example by Colourpop or Maybelline. This might be something to think about before purchasing from Kylie, because although it's not that much difference, it is still smaller, and still more expensive. For example, a lux lipstick from Colourpop is 7 dollars, whereas Kylie creme/matte lipsticks are 17 dollars. Second thing is the smell - her lipsticks have the same smell as her liquid lipsticks do. Some love it, some hate it. I think for me, it was okay for the liquid lipsticks, but somehow for these lipsticks it can be too much, and especially at the beginning I am not a very big fan of it.
By the swatches above, you can see that there is a big difference in the formula - duh, one is matte and one is creme. I think the creme one is definitely more comfortable for me to wear, and the shade is more suiting for my skin tone, but I think Nova will work out for me too on certain occasions. Give Me a Kiss is still too rosey for my likings, as I prefer something more nude - but I still think it's beautiful and I definitely will be wearing it.
Overall, my opinions on the Royal Peach Palette are simple - I love it. I would definitely recommend it, but I don't think it's a palette that can be used for many looks on its own. I would say it's more of a palette for someone like me, who loves collecting palettes and playing around with them, but not for someone who just wants one good palette, that can be used to create many looks. Second, the lipsticks - this one I will leave for you guys to decide. I think, for its size, the price is definitely too high, so I don't think I would be getting any of her other ones any time soon, unless I am really dying over a colour she comes up with. When it comes to the formulas - this also has to be a decision made by you. If you are someone who feels more comfortable with a matte finish, that stays on for longer then go for that. If you are someone who feels better with a creme lipstick, like me, then you should definitely try her creme formula because I really do think it's good.
As always, please let me know your opinions/views on the products I've just reviewed. Do you own any of them? Would you purchased them?
Also, I would really appreciate if you guys helped me out to decide if I should do a Make Up Battle post on Royal Peach Palette vs The Sweet Peach by Too Faced, or a Make Up Battle on any other products (make sure to mention which ones you'd like to read about!)
Thank you for all the support!
Love, Olivia xo

Hey girlie :) FIrstly, really excited for this review! I understand what your trying to say and thank you for your honesty! Seriously :D next up the lippies.. i dont usually like matte lippies cuz they show my lip lines a lot n dry down a lot... but i am loving that color. and "give me a kiss" looks gorgeous.. those would generally be my everyday colors as well!!! I don't think i would personally by the palette but I think i might want that lipstick shade.. <3 thanks Olivia :)

ReplyDeleteLove the shades of the lipsticks
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely seeing the difference between the palette swatches for sure. As for as the lip colors not keen on matte for it is drying to the lip but a nice gloss will take care of that. All and all I'd love to try that metallic palette for sure along with some of her other stuff just can not at this time. I ty for your review and help deciding for myself now that i should try it! I follow you on the gram and Twitter
