Hi, dolls!
Cloud by Ariana Grande has to be the number one known celebrity scent out there. It's become popular because many (including myself) find it to be a great dupe for MFK's Baccarat Rouge 540. It was a nice surprise to see Ariana release a more intense version for the scent - Cloud 2.0. If you're interested to find out more about it, let's get right into the review!
Check out my previous Ariana Grande fragrance reviews:
Cloud 2.0 Intense is a new amber vanilla fragrance, launched in 2021 in America and is currently only available to purchase from Boots in the UK for a limited time. It will be launching in other retailers such as The Perfume Shop and Superdrug shortly!
Top Notes: Lavender, Bergamot, Pear
Middle Notes: Whipped Cream, Coconut, Praline, Vanilla Orchid
Bottom Notes: Ambroxan, Cashmeran, Musk, Woodsy Notes
I find the opening of Cloud 2.0 to be similar to the original, however it's the dry down that's definitely different. Cloud 2.0 is much more creamier and less sweet due to the two added notes - Ambroxan and Cashmeran. Ambroxan is a modern synthetic compound with a dry amber musky smell and Cashmere is a popular synthetic accord with a soft diffusive warm woody musky amber scent, reminiscent of cashmere wool. These two additions help to make the scent a little bit more masculine than the original Cloud.
Cloud 2.0 is an Eau De Parfum Intense fragrance meaning it should contain a super strong concentration of oils. Intense fragrances promise a luxuriously rich, long-lasting scent for the ultimate sensorial experience. For this exact reason, I expected Cloud 2.0 to be longer lasting than the original but it's just not the case here. While Cloud is a 'loud' fragrance, meaning everyone around you will notice it and ask what you're wearing, Cloud 2.0 is more intimate.
I enjoy the white design of the Cloud 2.0 bottle - it's very elegant and pretty. Both fragrances also come with a stand shape like a cloud but due to personal preference, I like to keep the bottles without the stand.
Final Thoughts
I have to be honest - I am pretty disappointed by Cloud 2.0. Having Cloud as one of my favourites fragrances I simply expected more from it. If I had to pick between them two, the original would be the winner for me. However, it all comes down to personal preference - you might love Cloud 2.0 if you're not into the original. I do think it's not necessary to have them both in your collection unless you are a collector of Ariana's scents.
I am interested what you think of Ariana's Cloud 2.0 Intense version. Do you prefer it over the original Cloud? Are you planning to buy this limited-edition scent? Let me know down in the comments and stay tune for my next review!
