Back in August, I was gifted the Storm eyeshadow palette from Sleek Makeup and ever since then I have been testing it and I finally have the chance to review it for you guys. I have used Sleek's products before but never tried their eyeshadow palettes, so when I received this palette as a present from my work colleague, I immediately wanted to give it ago and see how the palette performs. For those of you that might not know, Sleek Makeup is a company founded in 1995 in London, created in response to deeper skin tones being under represented in the market. Starting from humble beginnings, Sleek Makeup is now sold in over 50 countries and over 2,500 stores globally. Their main goal has always been to promote inclusivity whilst giving their customers the freedom of expressing themselves.
Sleek MakeUp I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette - Storm
Firstly, I have to say I was super confused when I noticed that this palette is called Storm in the UK but in the US it's named Beautiful Sin. It's the first time I have come across a product from a beauty company that has two different names and I find that super confusing and unnecessary. I have to be honest and also say that this palette when I first looked at it, looked very cheap to me, especially the packaging. I kept thinking that you can buy cheaper stuff for example from Revolution, yet their packaging is way cuter. But of course that has nothing to do with the palette quality and it is just a personal preference, whether or not you like something to be packed in a unique packaging. Personally, for the price, I would expect the packaging to be a little bit more exciting to have, because I find the palette to not stand out comparing to my other palettes.
However, I have to say I was positively surprised when I first applied these eyeshadows on my eyes because their quality is honestly so good, especially when you consider its price range. From the swatches above you can see how pigmented these shadows truly are and the shimmers are just a dream to apply on the eyes. I am very pale and usually I find it hard to wear dark colours (especially shimmers) but this palette really made me realise that it might actually suit my eyes.
SIDE NOTE - I actually just realised that in the first picture of me swatching the first top row, I forgot to swatch the last shimmer. I don't know how I could have possibly missed that one out lol.
Final Thoughts
I am surprised at how good this palette actually performs on my eyes. I honestly expected it to be alright but nothing amazing, yet it turns out to be of very high quality. I would say that for its price, the palette is definitely worth checking out. The only two things I would say that could be changed are: first - the name, the company should stick to one as it makes it easier to find the palette on the internet, and second - the packaging. I think - but this is just my personal opinion - if the packaging was more exciting, it would make the palette stand out more.
Let me know what you think about the Storm palette and if you have tried any of the Sleek Makeup products. What is your favourite product at the moment? As always, thank you for all the support and stay tuned for my next post.
