Huda Beauty Mini Pastel Obsessions Lilac & Mint Review

Hi, dolls!

In today's blog post, I wanted to review two of the Mini Pastel Obsessions Palettes from Huda Beauty. When Huda first released her pastel palettes, I was super excited and wanted to try them out. The Pastel Mini Palette collection by Huda Beauty was inspired by Huda's latest fashion obsession for pastel colours. Each palette in the collection offers versatile looks from subtle to vivid and colourful! I decided to go for the Lilac palette and I was also lucky enough to win the Mint palette from a giveaway hosted by Alyssa.

I know Alyssa not only for her authentic giveaways but also for her beautiful voice. I recommend you all to check her instagram @alyssagalarza where she always has these amazing giveaways, but also check out and stream her newest song Salty because her voice is sooo good!

Each Huda Beauty pastel is packed with a selection of highly pigmented matte shades, metallic jellies and next-generation shimmer swirls, all in smooth and blendable textures. Pastel Lilac Obsession palette is a seductive series of dusty mauve mattes, lavender shimmers, pops of luxurious fizzy violet, a velvety apricot matte and a pop of soft coral shimmer, all designed to complement each other and add divine dimension to the lids.

I ordered the Lilac palette because my collection lacked purple tones. When the palette arrived and I started swatching it, I have to be honest and say that I was underwhelmed. Usually, I am used to all Huda's mini palettes to be super pigmented and this palette to me lacks that extra pigmentation that her other palettes have. I know that this is a pastel palette therefore the pigmentation is lighter but I honestly expected a little bit more. I decided to give up this palette to a friend of mine who will have more use out of this palette because I didn't really enjoy using it.

Each Huda Beauty pastel is packed with a selection of highly pigmented matte shades, metallic jellies and next-generation shimmer swirls, all in smooth and blendable textures. Mint Obsession palette is an unusual balance of warm and cool tones, this palette indulges your lids in soft mint and apple green mattes, pistachio, teal and icy aqua shimmers, a touch of honey bronze shimmer and a rich tan matte.

After not the best experience with the Lilac pastel palette, I was lucky enough to win Alyssa's give-away and was gifted the Mint pastel palette. I immediately swatched it and found this palette to perform much nicer than the Lilac. The Mint palette is much more unique because of its colour and although I don't create mint looks often, it's definitely a palette I want to keep in my collection for times when I'm feeling more creative. I really loved the shimmer shades in this palette because I can use them without necessarily using the mattes and also because they're so light, I can use them as a highlight for my face.

Final Thoughts
Every time Huda Beauty has a new launch, I get super excited and want to try it out. When Huda released their pastel collection, I really wanted to check it out because the palettes are very unique and stand out from your everyday palettes. However, comparing these Pastel obsessions to her other mini obsession palettes, I was quite disappointed. The pigment just seems to not be there and yes, fair enough these are pastel palettes but I still feel like the amazing Huda's palette quality which I'm used to and love, lacks from these palettes. I do however really enjoy the shimmer shades, especially in the Mint palette and love to use them as a highlight too. Out of the two, I definitely prefer the Mint palette because it's more unique and these shimmers really do stand out and can be used as toppers for other looks too. I think these palettes are fun to have and try out for pastel looks but I definitely prefer the quality and pigmentation of her other mini palettes.

Let me know what you think about the Pastel Obsession palettes from Huda and which out of the two is your favourite! Stay tuned for my next blog post, coming soon xo

  7. Great review although these pastels do seem disappointing. I prefer her Nude palette’s pigmentation much more like you mentioned. I think I’ll pass this collection for myself

  8. Beautifully detailed review! Huda’s my favourite brand and I love the rose pastel palette the most out of the 3. They swatch similarly and im not too upset for the lighter pigmentation because it is pastel collection

  9. I decided to hold back from buying these until they're discounted and I'm glad I did. Reading your review & seeing the swatches made me disappointed as well! The Huda Beauty shadows are normally so pigmented so this is a huge difference!
