Kayali Vanilla | 28 Fragrance Review

by - September 16, 2020

Hi, dolls!
If you follow me on my socials, you have probably noticed that I am currently obsessed with all the Kayali perfumes. As I decided to do more fragrance reviews, I wanted to do separate reviews for all of my Kayali perfumes, so you can find out more about the one you're interested in. In today's review, I will be reviewing my favourite out of the Kayali collection - Kayali Vanilla. If you're interested to find out more about it, let's get right into the review!

100ml £70/$118

Kayali means my imagination in Arabic and it was created by both Huda and Mona Kattan, who in fact is known as the Perfume Princess. I honestly think that if we're going to trust anyone when it comes to fragrance, it should be Mona. If you follow her on social media, you must know how big her perfume collection is and also, her perfume knowledge. I knew Kayali would be amazing from the start and it definitely didn't disappoint. Kayali's tagline is every layer of me and it actually focuses on layering fragrances to create your own, personal scent.

Vanilla | 28 is described as an oriental blend of jasmine, Madagascan vanilla orchid, Brazilian Tonka, musk, amber, patchouli and brown sugar. It has beautifully balanced oriental notes of musk, amber, patchouli and brown sugar from the distinguished wood base of this utterly sublime scent. Whether worn alone or layered, this perfectly marries the rich scent of comforting vanilla and heady aromatics to create an utterly sublime aroma.

Kayali Vanilla is my favourite scent out of the 5 available. I love the others too (as you can probably tell if you follow me on social media) but Vanilla holds a special place in my heart. I first tried it in the mini bottle version (10ml) which came as a part of the Huda Beauty x Kayali Valentine's Day gift set - read my review of it by clicking here. Having the mini made me fall in love with the scent so badly that I went and bought the 100ml bottle of this. It's super sweet and I always get so many compliments on the sweetness of this fragrance. I think I have found my signature scent because I use this fragrance daily and it's truly my obsession!

The scent is heavy in a sense that you don't need loads of it to smell it - it is an Eau de Parfum after all. Eau de Parfum has the highest concentration of fragrance - generally having a fragrance concentration of between 15% and 20%. On average, eau de Parfum should last from four to five hours, if not more. This differs from Eau de Toilette which has a fragrance concentration of between 5% and 15%. Eau de Toilette is definitely one of the most popular types of fragrance and it is definitely cheaper than eau de Parfum (in case some of you were wondering why Kayali's price is high) but it will normally only last for two to three hours.
I also have to talk about the bottle of this fragrance - it looks so elegant and classy. I love how beautiful the packaging looks and the diamond cap makes it even more unique. On many occasions you get an expensive fragrance in simple packaging but with Kayali you not only get a high quality of fragrance but also a stunning packaging that makes it even more exciting to have. I appreciate the fact that it's possible to get the Kayali testers before actually making a purchase, although not every shop will have them, because that makes it easier for you to find your perfect scent. This is especially important if you cannot afford to buy all 5 and want to ensure you make the right decision. Testers can also help with layering, as it allows you to try different layers and see which scents would work together for you to create your perfect scent. Sadly, I didn't know the Kayali testers were a thing until I visited the Huda Beauty pop up and was gifted one, and when I looked online to see if I could maybe get more, people were selling it for crazy amount of money.

Fragrance Family: Oriental Gourmand
Scent Type: Rich, Decadent, Deep
Key Notes: Vanilla Orchid, Tonka Absolute, Amber Woods, Musk, Brown Sugar

Mona's tips:
• Spritz a couple of times on hair or pulse points, or both, to make your perfume last longer throughout the day
• Spray your fragrance into your hairbrush before brushing your hair
• Spray the scent on your hair towel before drying her hair, the result is a subtle hint of the fragrance that will follow you around all day.
Mona’s favorite mixes:
Use Kayali Vanilla | 28 as a base for Kayali Elixir | 11.
The result will be a deep, rich scent made for a special occasion.

Final Thoughts
I fell in love with Kayali fragrances when I first tried it and I am obsessed ever since. Although all 5 scents are different, I really enjoy all of them. Out of the 5, I think I would probably only pass on the Musk, however if I ever do get it, I will definitely review it. I am excited to see my Kayali collection grow and can't wait for their new releases! I would recommend everyone to check out Kayali fragrances and pick a scent that works for you. I did a little quiz to help you decide which scent you should go for, so enjoy checking it out!

Let me know in the comments if you have tried the Kayali fragrances yet and if so, which is your favourite? My favourite has to be Vanilla but I truly love them all! Check out my other Kayali reviews linked above.

  1. I haven't heard of Kayali before...but it sounds like a wonderful perfume. I love eau de parfums because you don't need a lot, and they last all day. Would love to smell this one, although I like fruity fresh perfumes the best.
    Thanks for sharing!
