YSL Libre Eau De Parfum Review

Hi, dolls!
Anyone else looking forward to the weekend? I can't wait to be off work to schedule new posts for the next couple of weeks. I know I haven't been as active lately but I was still testing so many products behind the scenes and I'm so ready to share my reviews with all of you!

This post may contain gifted products and affiliate links meaning that if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. However, my reviews/opinions on products are always 100% honest and I'll only recommend items that I love!

Today, I wanted to do another fragrance review, this time reviewing the YSL Libre Eau de Parfum. YSL has kindly gifted me some of their goodies and the Libre fragrance was one of them. You can definitely look out for more YSL reviews coming soon! If you're interested to find out more about the Libre fragrance, let's get right into it!

Libre is the fragrance of Freedom by Yves Saint Laurent. The French word for 'free' pays tribute to YSL's most defining and enduring value: Freedom. Freedom to be yourself. Freedom of choice. Freedom to live everything to the full. Libre is a grand floral fragrance described as the burning sensuality of the orange blossom flowers, twisted with the aromatic boldness of lavender.

Top Notes: Lavender, Mandarin Orange, Black Currant, Petitgrain
Middle Notes: Lavender, Orange Blossom, Jasmine
Bottom Notes: Vanilla, Musk, Ambergris, Cedar

Libre has to be the one of the stronger fragrances in my collection. It's the type of scent you only need to spray once or twice because it's very strong and powerful at first. When I first smelled it, it almost reminded me of a typical men's fragrance. The opening of Libre gives me a burst of the Mandarin Orange, Orange Blossom and Jasmine. As it settles, it becomes softer and you start to smell its bottom notes of Vanilla, Musk and Cedar. In my opinion, Libre could be seen as a unisex scent, it's very sharp and masculine. However, once it dries down it becomes much softer due to the Vanilla and Musk.

The bottle of the fragrance is sharp and elegant, embellished by the legendary YSL logo. It definitely makes a statement as it's eye catching and looks super luxurious. I would say it stands out from my other fragrances because it has that unique touch added to it. Even if I wasn't reaching out for this fragrance a lot, I would still like to have it in my collection because of how gorgeous the bottle is!

Libre is an Eau de Parfum. EDP has the highest concentration of fragrance - generally having a fragrance concentration of between 15% and 20%. On average, eau de Parfum should last from four to five hours, if not more. This differs from Eau de Toilette which has a fragrance concentration of between 5% and 15%. Eau de Toilette is definitely one of the most popular types of fragrance and it's definitely cheaper than eau de Parfum but it will normally only last for two to three hours. I find Libre to be very long lasting and although I like to re-apply my fragrances often, I don't think you need a lot of it.

Final Thoughts
Although I wasn't the biggest fan of Libre when I first tried it in the shops, it now started to grow on me. I do like it, however if you're sensitive to heavy scents I wouldn't spray too much of this fragrance as at first, it can easily cause headaches. I see myself wearing it on a night out or to a meeting, it's very classy and elegant. I like the softer side of this fragrance once it dries down when the Vanilla and Musk become more apparent. I wouldn't recommend blind buying Libre, it's a fragrance you should smell before hand but it's a beautiful one for sure, one that will help you make a statement.

Let me know your thoughts on Libre down below. What's your favourite YSL fragrance? Once again I wanted to thank YSL for gifting me Libre and some of their other goodies! I'm super excited to test them all out and review. You can find a sneak peak of the products over on my Instagram. (@oliviaaandbeauty) xo
