10 Makeup Tips & Tricks From Beauty Gurus and Makeup Artists

Hi, dolls!

In today's post, I will be sharing with you the best beauty tips and tricks that I have learnt from beauty gurus and makeup artists over the past year. I honestly think that some of these tips can change your makeup game so much, so I hope you enjoy this post and find these tips as interesting as I did!

 Mario

1. USE CONCEALER AND PRESSED POWDER AS AN EYESHADOW PRIMER

Mario Dedivanovic is a makeup artists whose celebrity clientele list includes the Kardashian and he has designed his own training program called The Master Class. One of the main makeup tips Mario shares with us is to use concealer and pressed powder as an eyeshadow primer. Although there are some amazing eyeshadow primers out there, Mario prefers to use the old trick of using concealer as an eyeshadow primer to keep makeup from moving. He applies the concealer on the lid and tops it with translucent powder.

 KKW

2. THINK OF A THREE WHEN CONTOURING

Kim Kardashian West, who many call the queen of contour is best known for her contour technique. After applying foundation and concealer, she contours her face using the 3 method. She goes cheekbones, under the chin and then the top. She draws a 3 on her face on both sides with her contour sticks and blends it all out with her blending brush.

Kylie

3. MIX YOUR FAVOURITE LIPSTICKS TOGETHER

Kylie Jenner, the CEO of Kylie Cosmetics, which first launched as Kylie Lip Kit, is very much known for her lip products. If there is anything else that Kylie loves more than a lipstick, it's lipstick on top of a lipstick. Kylie shared with her fans that she loves to blend colours together and create the perfect shade by mixing some of her favourite lipsticks. Try gloss over your favourite lipstick too for the perfect lip combo!

 Huda

4. APPLY SETTING SPRAY FOR THE MAXIMUM RESULTS

Although the standard way to apply setting spray is to spray the face after the makeup is done, Huda Kattan shares her secret way to maximise the result of a setting spray which leaves the skin looking flawless. She advises us to use a beauty blender and spray the back of it with the setting spray by really soaking it in the product, which then you start to tap onto your face. By doing so, it removes any excess powder and melts the makeup into your skin, making the face look flawless and leaving a matte finish. However, if you prefer a dewy finish, you can use any highlighter you want, whether it's liquid, cream or powder, and saturate the bottom of your beauty blender in it. By tapping the saturated beauty blender onto your skin, it will become shimmery and leave a dewy finish.

 Nikkie

5. MIX LIQUID HIGHLIGHTER WITH YOUR FOUNDATION

Nikkie Tutorials, aka the queen of highlight, shares her tips of mixing a liquid highlighter with your foundation to get the best glow for your face. Remember, never apply foundation over liquid highlighter as the results will be nowhere as good as when you mix the two together!

 Jeffree

6. AVOID BEAUTY PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN ALCOHOL

Welcome back to my channel!
Although Jeffree Star is a CEO of his makeup company, Jeffree Star Cosmetics, he is also a singer, songwriter, model and fashion designer. I love his honest reviews and that he always spills the truth about what goes on behind the doors in the beauty community. For the very same reason, I trust his beauty tips and tricks. One of the many is to avoid beauty products that contain alcohol as it will age you, especially if you use toners which have alcohol in their formula.

7. INVEST IN EYE CREAM

Ariel Tejada is the makeup artist responsible for all the most-liked Instagram selfies. He is the makeup artist for many celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Shay Mitchell and Kylie Jenner. His top makeup tip is to invest in a good eye cream. An eye cream is important for all of us because we don't want a concealer to settle into fine lines. In addition, always put on a really thick eye cream at night to keep everything hydrated as throughout the night, you lose a lot of the moisture, so you definitely want to make sure you give your skin the moisture it needs.

 ABH

8. CREATE YOUR PERFECT BROW

Anastasia Soare, the CEO of Anastasia Beverly Hills and the queen of brows has some tips for us when it comes to the brows. Her tip to finding where your brow should start is to draw an imaginary line going straight above your eye from the inside corner of your nostril. Then, extend a line connecting the tip of your nose to the middle of your iris to pinpoint the highest part of your arch. Lastly, follow the line formed by the side of your nose and the outer corner of your eye to see where the brow should end. Once you get used to these three points, you'll create your prefect brown.

 Tati

9. APPLY WATERPROOF PENCIL LINER ON TOP OF EYELINER

Tati Westbrook aka Glam Life Guru also has some makeup tips for us. One of Tati's makeup hacks is to apply a waterproof pencil liner on top of her black eyeliner to make it more intense and more long lasting as the pencil liner smoothens everything out. She advises to set it with black powder, as just like when you set your foundation with powder, it makes it long-lasting and harder to smudge.

10. REMEMBER THE IMPORTANT MAKEUP RULE - THERE ARE NO RULES!

Last but not least, definitely my favourite from the list is a very important makeup advice given to us by the one and only Patrick Starrr! His most important makeup rule is that there are no rules in makeup. Yes! Makeup is meant to fun and for all of us to enjoy it, so don't limit yourself and play with it to the fullest!

  1. My favorite is definitely using a concealer as a primer! I started doing this about a year and a half ago and it helped brightened up my eyeshadow and helped to last longer throughout the day! I’ve also started avoiding products that contain alcohol. I’ve noticed that if a product contains alcohol it makes your face feel so dry. I’ve never tried Tati’s way with the eyeliner but it seems interesting so I think I’m gonna give it a try!

  4. Ok I think I write too much and then when I go to post, Blogger gets confused and it doesn't post 🤷🏻‍♀️.
Anyways I said my two fav tips are the eyebrow rule (everyone, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS RULE!!) & the avoid alcohol in products rule!! Both are helping you look better day after day! My last favorite is there are no rules (besides these rules!) from Patrick bc makeup should be fun and not feel like a test where you got all the answers wrong! Some of the most backwards looks have been the most infamous & intriguing looks, the ones that have captured our attn & kept it there!!
MY RULE IS: Learn the rules to be able to break the rules! Once you know the rules & the shape of your face & what looks good, you can then venture off into wilder, outside of the box looks.
