Ariana Grande Thank You, Next 2.0 vs Thank You, Next Fragrance Review and Comparison

Hi, dolls!
It was such a surprise to everybody when Ariana's newest fragrance Thank You, Next 2.0 started appearing in different shops across the United States without any promo or ads from her side. Everyone has been talking about this exclusive scent of hers ever since and I was super excited when it finally launched in the UK. Currently, it's only sold in the US, Canada and UK and I have no idea if it will ever be released in other countries. If you're interested to learn all about it as well as how it compares to the original, let's get right into the review!

Check out my previous Ariana Grande fragrance reviews:

Thank You, Next 2.0 is a floral fruity fragrance released in 2021. It's described as playful, optimistic and unapologetic. It's only available in 30ml and it's a limited collection bottle exclusive to Superdrug in the UK.

Top Notes: Apple Juice, Wild Strawberry, Pomegranate
Middle Notes: White Orchid, Jasmine
Bottom Notes: Marshmallow, Musk, Sandalwood

The opening of Thank You, Next 2.0 gives me a burst of apple juice, strawberries and pomegranate and soon after I start to smell some of the floral notes. Once it dries down, it has a more woody and musky base and I don't really get the marshmallow there because the dry down isn't as sweet as the opening. I know this fragrance being so exclusive is the reason why everyone wanted to try it but in my opinion, it's nothing new or unique. In fact, it's your basic fruity fragrance with a bit of early 00's vibe but I honestly expected a little bit more from such an exclusive scent.

While Thank You Next, 2.0 is a fruity floral fragrance, the original is much sweeter and more of a gourmand scent. With the original TYN, you get a weird opening that smells a bit like pickles and once it dries down, it becomes sweeter with a coconuty vibe to it. To be honest, at first I wasn't the biggest fan of it but the more I started to wear it, the more I started to like it. It lasts a very long time and you don't really have to worry about reapplying the fragrance. On the other hand, Thank You, Next 2.0 is so fruity at the opening and I'm really disappointed this beautiful fruitiness disappears at the dry down which turns the fragrance more woody and musky. The two aren't really that similar to me and I do find the original to have a better sillage and longevity.

When I first smelled Thank You, Next 2.0 I realised I already have this scent in my collection. I believe that TYN 2.0 is the BEST dupe for Kayali's newest Eden Juicy Apple | 01 scent which is almost identical at the opening. However, while Kayali's Eden has a beautiful fruity opening as well as dry down, Thank You, Next 2.0 loses that fruitiness and hence, isn't as good in my opinion. Both of these fragrances are really nostalgic as it reminds me of Hollister and Victoria Secret's body sprays I'd use back in high school. To me, it very 00's and early 2010's which I personally love and enjoy, especially for everyday use. I'm confident to label Thank You, Next 2.0 as a cheaper version of Eden, similarly how I would label Cloud a cheaper version of Baccarat Rouge 540.

Final Thoughts
As much as I enjoyed Thank You, Next 2.0, I am disappointed this is the exclusive scent they would want to hype up so badly by making it impossible to get across the world. Don't get me wrong, it's fruity and nice but most of us will already have it in a different bottle. I do love and prefer the holographic packaging and bottle from the original pink, however Thank You, Next is much more unique than the 2.0 version. I am also very confused why these 2.0 versions keep coming out (Cloud 2.0 followed soon after this release) without Ariana promoting them on her socials. It makes me wonder whether her team is just pushing random scents she doesn't particularly pick herself and maybe that's the reason they are not as good as we would expect.

I'd also like to say before you blindly buy this fragrance for silly amounts on the internet, please do smell Kayali's Eden in your nearest Sephora's or Boots to get an idea of what it actually smells like before you commit to paying more than it's actually worth. Since I am not the biggest fan of it, I will also be doing an international giveaway of Thank You, Next 2.0 over on my Instagram (@oliviaaandbeauty) once I hit 30K followers, so definitely head over there and stay tuned for more information how to enter!

  3. I had a feeling this fragrance was way too rushed for it to be so perfect like her previous ones. Thank you for being so honest about it - great review :)

  5. I've stuck to my signature fragrance for over 20 years, so I'm unlikely to change now, but my daughter might like the original Ariana fragrance - I'll take her to Superdrug and see!

    1. Ariana’s R.E.M fragrance is more on the unisex side with lavender notes and it’s not as sweet as her other scents. I think you’ll like that 😊

  10. Great indepth review of these scents. I've never tried anything from AG but I'm not that big on floral scents, so I'm not sure if these would be for me x

  14. I haven’t tried either of these. However the Ariana perfume that was in a pink bottle with a Pom Pom, smelled quite nice. Thank you for sharing your review.
