Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Palette - Worth the Hype?

Hi, dolls!

Today I want to review the Desert Dusk palette by Huda Beauty which I've received as my Xmas present. The thing I love about Huda’s palettes the most is that they always look so luxurious and the packaging is always on point. But because the price of Huda products is so high, sometimes it’s hard to justify getting a £54 palette instead of one that costs £20. However, this palette stood out from all my other palettes that I have in my collection, so it definitely has been a good add on - the colours are stunning just by looking at them. I hope you enjoy my review, let’s get right into it!

£54 / $65

Due to the fact that I have owned this palette for almost a year now, and have been using it a lot, I wanted to show you a comparison of how it looked right after I got it and how it looks now, after being used so many times. Above you can see how clean and beautiful the palette looks right after you purchase it and below how it ends up looking when you use it a lot like me. Obviously there is nothing wrong with messy palettes and it's actually a great thing if they are messy because it simply means it's being used.

Why did I ask for this as my Xmas present? Well firstly, before I actually got a proper job and couldn't afford much, I never in a billion years thought that Huda Beauty would be a brand that I would ever dream of getting just because of its price range. I picked this palette over Modern Renaissance by ABH simply because it has more shades and I felt like if I was getting something that expensive, I might as well go for a bigger palette. Also, I picked it over the Rose Gold palette because the Rose Gold one never really spoke to me as much as the Desert Dusk did - which BTW I'm so glad about because soon after it got remastered. I definitely would be pissed if after spending that much money on a palette I would find out they are changing its formula as it wasn't perfect the first time.

The palette consists of 4 different textures:
8 mattes - Desert Sand, Musk, Eden, Amber, Oud, Amethyst, Saffron & Blazing
6 pressed pearls - Blood Moon, Turkish Delight, Angelic, Cashmere, Royal, Nefertiti
3 duo chromes - Twilight, Retrograde, Celestial
1 glitter - Cosmo

I thought it would be easy to divide the swatches into the 3 rows that they come with. I think the colours are so beautiful and many looks can be created with it. I think the row that I love to play with the most is the last one and ANGELIC has to be my favourite shade from the whole palette. I truly do love the quality of these shadows and think a lot of hard work has been put in it but I also have to agree with the tutorials I've seen that complained about the fall out, because let's be honest - there is a bit of it. You can even see it from how messy my palette become and it's only because of how much fallout there is. I don't bother with fallout as much because I tend to do my eyes first but like I always say, it might not be the greatest thing for people that prefer to do their face and then their eyes, because then they will get fallout all over their under eyes, which can be tricky to remove!

Final Thoughts
I love the palette and the whole Arabian theme behind it, I think it makes it so unique! But I don't think it's worth it's price. As much as I like Huda and Huda Beauty, I think some of the prices they set for their products are too high and let's be honest, in some cases even higher than Kylie Cosmetics or even KKW Beauty. It's hard to compare Huda to Kylie or Kim because she's not as famous as they are, but it's also the point I am trying to get across - people wouldn't always pay this much even for products that Kim Kardashian comes out with, knowing how famous she is, so why would they do that for Huda? On the side, Huda knows her beauty stuff and probably knows more about the products she is putting out than Kylie or Kim, so for this reason many people trust her when it comes to the quality of the products. The only thing missing for me from this palette is a white/cream shade as a base because the shade 'Desert Sand' is definitely too dark for me. However, I still like to take this palette alone when travelling because it gives me so many options to get creative and create all types of looks.

Let me know what your opinions are on the Desert Dusk palette and overall about Huda Beauty. I know that many people love her but I also know many are upset over the whole Beauty Bakerie situation. However, I am asking to keep the comment section as positive as possible, I respect everyone's opinion but I don't want anyone spreading mean or hating comments about the brand or Huda.

Thank you for all your support, I see all of your comments and try to answer as many question as I can. For those of you that are still struggling to follow my blog, here's a link that will make it easier for you - REMEMBER you MUST have an GMAIL account to be able to follow my blog.

  2. Okay first of, thank you so much for mentioning the Huda situation with Beauty Bakerie.. I didn't know she made a statement about it though.. Do you have it? Secondly, this palette is stunning. If i had to chose outta all of her palettes, i would chose this too! :) the shades are GORGEOUSSS.. i actually love the chrome multi-colored shades (sorry, dont' remember proper word) and yes, it is very pricey for it... i wish i could affford it.. but overall, loved the hONEST OPINION. thank you for addressing everything.. I don't respect her after this, but i will admit that some of her products do appeal to me....

    1. I believe she made a video on instagram stating the whole process behind the theme of the setting powder... However, no word of Beauty Bakerie or straight comment on the situation which really does suck :(

  4. I like how you explain everything that's going on with Huda and Beauty Bakerie and I also like that this palette can create a lot of different looks and your right about the fallout but some palettes do have fallout so that dont bother me as well but i love this palette.

  5. I totally agree with you, I think it's a beautiful palette, one of my gave, I couldn't afford it so I really wanted to dupe from Bad habit and I was very lucky that a dear friend bought it for me and shipped it to the UK since Hey Hush don't ship internationally. It's one of my fave paleypa, absolutely beautiful. I agree that 50+ pounds are too much for a palette, surely way out of my budget. Also I love Huda's products I have to say rgeythe just my cup of tea but I don't feel comfortable supporting her after the situation with Beauty bakerie (which I love n suposup) So yeah as I said I'm with you. I saw this palette on sale at Tkmaxx several months ago, Im not going to lie I was very tempted but since I really love my dupe I didn't really see the point. Great review as usual. Love you!

  10. This is a great review and I agree! Before the beauty Bakerie thing I was so excited about huda. I would go to sephora to look and play with it. Well I heard about the dupes and got them. I actually loved them,Money saved because I couldn't afford the actual palette. I do love Hudas products. But the beauty Bakerie thing really bothered me. How they stole the concept and tried brushing it off. They are more on the expensive side. The new palette that recently came out and it looks so pretty love your honest reviews 💖

  11. I think the palette has some very beautiful colors but I'm gonna agree with the fact that I myself would not pay $65 for that palette. There's a lot of palettes out there with similar colors at half the price. I do kinda like the looks of the new Nude palette that came out.

  12. Huda was a brand that I always wanted to try but their morality has been a major issue for me. Still, those shadows look so pretty.
