Huda Beauty Matte & Metal Melted Shadows Review

Hi, dolls!

At first, I wasn't sure whether I should do a post on Huda Beauty as a brand review or review her matte and melted shadows in a separate posts since its recent launched, but then decided to do both. So, for those that are interested in Huda's products and not just these new liquid eyeshadows, you can expect a part two or just another post about Huda Beauty coming up very soon!

Huda Beauty has recently released her Matte & Melted Shadows. These are dual-ended liquid eyeshadows which are meant to be long-wearing and have insanely pigmented formulas. On one side we will find a velvety, pillow-soft matte, whereas on the other end will be a melted glimmering metallic formula. I believe, from watching her video where she introduces the products, that Huda wanted to create something which will allow to create a super quick eyeshadow look, that will still look beautiful. It is also a very easy way of creating a cut crease and can be very useful not only to those that are into make up and do it everyday, but also to the beginners, which I think is very fun and cool idea!

There are currently 5 of these liquid eyeshadows and they come in 5 different, beautiful colours:

Each retail for £22/$25

I was very interested and wanted to try this out because no one has ever came out with this concept, at least from what I am aware of. However, I decided to go and buy only one to test it out and later decide whether or not I would be purchasing any more of them. I simply didn't want to buy all because I was worried that if I don't like the formula, then all my money would go to waste, and as we are all aware, they are on the pricey side. It took me a while to decide which shade I wanted to try out and I actually went to Selfridges to be able to swatch them and decide - one thing I don't particularly like about online shopping is the fact that I can't swatch it for myself. I came to conclusion that Bubble Bath & Pink Champagne would be the best combo for me for the beginning to try it out, as it's not the lightest (like Faux Fur & Bamboo Hoops) but also not the the most out-there (like Hot Sauce & Cherry Soda)

The packaging is very cute and I don't know why but I really like it, it's small and easy to take when travelling. There is 2ml of product on both sides, so technically it's 2x2ml. I don't know whether products like this can have more ml in them, so I can't really comment on that, but for me it works, I just hope it doesn't end after only few uses, which would really annoy me since I paid £22 for it, but then again I have already used it many times and it doesn't look like it's going any time soon. Thank God.

Here is probably why I don't like swatches, because most of the times they look completely different on the eyes. In this case, Bubble Bath looks very light-pink, the pink we all love, but when I actually went to put it on my eyes, it kind of turns to be this very skin-colour and turns to a light colour that I would usually never put on my crease, just because it's too light. But then again, I am a very pale person, so many to others it would turn out looking differently. Pink Champagne on the other hand looks less shimmering on the hand swatch, but when put on the eye - it's the pink'iest shimmer I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating any of that! I really enjoyed using both, but it's also important to note that they dry very fast, so it's best to do each eye at a time, so there's no risk of the product drying before blending. My only issues is the shimmer - I love shimmer on my eyelids, and usually never create an eyeshadow look without one, but I get a feeling that Pink Champagne is too bright and just too 'out-there' that I wouldn't apply it on a normal day, where I go to work or uni. Plus, it is very light on me, so maybe that is the reason I feel that way. However, it would be a great colour to rock on a night out and when a occasion occurs, I will definitely be applying it on my eyelids! The matte side I really like. As I said, the colour kind of blends with my skin colour, but I feel like whoever has this problem can just add a darker eyeshadow to create a stronger crease, but overall the colour I picked can be used on both, everyday and night looks and I think that's why I like it so much.

Also, I definitely like the whole idea of this product and I am happy to have it in my collection. I have also recently seen a post by Revolution Beauty where they state that they will be coming out with similar liquid eyeshadow concept, which can be seen as copying and annoying, but on the other side, we get to try this for cheaper. I will definitely be buying the Revolution one when it comes out and comparing to see if it will be any good like Huda's.

To conclude, I think I would recommend it to all of you not only because it is a good product but also because it's new and fun and has never been done before. However, I know that many of us don't enjoy spending that amount of money on a small product like this, but I think getting one to try out can be reasonable enough. Would I go and buy the whole collection by myself? Probably not. But I definitely want to get at least one or two more, so far I'm thinking to get Private Jet & Shimmering Sunset and Hot Sauce & Cherry Soda. I think that the darker the colour, the nicer it will look in the crease, so I definitely cant wait to get them and see how they'll work for me! As always, will update you guys when I get them on how they perform, most likely by the time Revolution comes out with theirs as it'd give me a chance to also compare them.

Have you tried these new Matte & Melted Shadows by Huda? Do you like the idea of the product and would you like to try it out if you haven't already? Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below, would love to hear which one you'd like to get the most!
Keep tuned for another post on Huda Beauty brand as a whole, where I will talk about all her products that I own, coming very soon!

  2. I've never tried any of Huda's products, but this one does sound very unique! It would be a pity if it doesn't last very long (especially for that price!)

I have mixed feelings about Huda and her brand but I have to admit these are looking gorgeous. I still don’t see myself spending 25 dollars on this, perhaphs Revolution comes out soon with their cheaper version.

  9. First of all girlie, I have been waiting to read about these because I've been seeing them a lot. Totally agree, concept is good, haven't seen something exactly like this. honestly, i have been loving pink champage too when i see pics, but now hearing that its too "out there", i wouldn't get it. I would love to try one of these but yeah, def, these are too pricey for me.. I wish I could try at least one of them to try a huda product but i just don't think 25 dollars for one of these is worth it. i can get a whole shadow palette with that much $

    thank you for ur honestreview!

    1. I obviously agree with the price issue because it is expensive, let's not pretend that it isn't. But I think on this occasion I let the price slip because of the fact that this is so new and cant get it from any elsewhere.
