What is Fragrance Layering?
Originally developed in the Middle East, fragrance layering is - quite simply - a technique which allows you to mix two or more scents together in order to create your own personal scent.

I actually learnt how to layer fragrances after Kayali has launched. For those of you that don't know, Kayali (translated from Arabic to 'my imagination') is a fragrance brand by Mona and Huda Kattan also known from Huda Beauty or Wishful. Kayali's fragrances are designed to be layered and combined together to create a scent that is truly yours. After completing my Kayali collection, I was able to mix scents together and later layer them with my other favourite fragrances.

How To Layer Fragrances?
There are many ways you can layer your fragrances together but it's important to remember to spray scents in order of intensity, so they don't get overpowered. Always spray the strongest scent first before topping it up with the lighter of the pair. However, layering fragrances doesn't mean you have to spray one scent on top of the other - you can spray one scent on your neck and the other on your wrist or even apply fragrance after using a scented lotion.

Best Combinations
When it comes to layering fragrances, there is no right or wrong. This is because layering allows you to find your own perfect, unique scent, so you are allowed to layer whatever fragrances you wish together. However, it's best to avoid combining two scents that are strong and heavy as they can be overwhelming when used together and even give you a headache. As already mentioned, it's best to apply a heavier scent first and a lighter one on top to create a nice layering.
