L'oreal Infallible Concealer vs Revolution Conceal & Define

Hi, dolls!

For the past 3 weeks I have been testing L'oreal's Infallible long-wear concealer that has been around for a while now and I think it's time for me to share my thoughts with you guys and also compare it to my all time favourite, the Conceal and Define concealer by Revolution.

Shade 320 Porcelain
£9.99/$13.50

The concealer comes in 25 shades and it claims to be full coverage with a natural matte finish. The formula is described as ultra-blendable and the concealer has a long-lasting weightless wear. It also has a large doe foot applicator which helps on-the-go application. I decided to buy it and give it ago after swatching it in store and realising that the shade which I picked up - 320 Porcelain - would suit my skin tone so nicely. The first time I have tried it, first thing I have noticed was the smell of the concealer. Usually, concealers either don't have a smell or smell weirdly that I try to avoid smelling them, however this one smells amazing. I can't really describe the smell myself but for me it's very pleasant and it's definitely not the kind of smell that makes you want to take off the product of your face. Now, I have to be honest and say that the first time I have applied this concealer under my eyes, it was horrible. I apply my foundation/concealer with a wet beauty blender and I found that not to work well with this concealer. By applying it on my face with a wet beauty blender, I found that it left patches and took the product away, which definitely didn't look too nice. I tried it three times and each time I had the same problem with it. That is when I decided to use a brush instead of a beauty blender and see how it will perform then. When you apply this concealer with a brush, it really does its job. It's truly full coverage and so easy to blend and also has a really nice natural looking matte finish. I have to say that I have enjoyed using this concealer because for its price, it really does its job and it's a very good concealer. The only thing that put me off is that I had so much trouble applying it with my beauty blender, but once I started using my brush, I no longer had any complaints.

Shade C0.1
£4/$7

My all time favourite concealer that I have been using since the shade C0.1 has been released. The concealer comes in 50(!) shades ranging from fair to deep, with different undertones. It has a lightweight yet full coverage formula which covers blemishes, evens out the skin tone and covers dark circles. Also, it has a matte finish and is labelled as long-wearing. I do agree with the products' description because the concealer is really amazing, especially if you consider it's only £4 and comes in 50 shades! It also has a doe foot applicator that is not too big or too small. I never had any single problems while applying it, or while having it on during the day and I don't think I could say anything negative about this product. The only thing I struggle with is that I use Revolution's foundation in the shade C0.1 also and because it's the lightest shade that Revolution provides, the concealer does not really brighten my under eyes as much as I would want it to. I found myself often mixing it with the white concealer to lighten it a little bit for under the eyes, but that is not something that I want to constantly do when applying make-up. The concealer is smaller than the L'oreal one (4g/0.14 oz) but there is a possibility to purchase it in a supersize bottle (13g) for £7/$10, however it is limited to only 25 shades.

From the swatches above you can see that 320 is lighter than C0.1. Although they both have pink undertones, L'oreal's concealer is lighter and brightens my eyes perfectly.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoy using both of these concealers so much and can honestly tell you that these two are the best dupes for the Shape Tape concealer from Tarte. However, if I had to chose one from the two as my favourite, I think it would be the L'oreal Infallible concealer. For so long, Conceal and Define has been my favourite and I am actually shocked that I found something to replace it. But the lightest shade in the L'oreal concealer definitely suits me a little bit better comparing to the lightest shade of the Conceal and Define that I have been using for months because it's lighter and I have noticed that it brightens my under eyes so much better. Revolution's concealer is still in my top three concealers out there and I will reach for it but just not as often as I did before. I think if you can find your perfect match in the Revolution concealer then you don't really have to go for the L'oreal one which is a bit more expensive because they are really just as good. I think if the Revolution's lightest shade was a little bit more lighter, then I would find it much harder to pick a favourite between the two.

Let me know if you have ever tried any of these two concealers and which one you think is better! I would also love to find out below what your favourite concealer is at the moment, so make sure you let me know in the comments section.

  4. I love how in depth you went! Looking at the swatches they look like they have very different undertones, I personally LOVE It Cosmetics under eye cream and concealer. If I'm looking to brighten I use Smashbox contouring kit (the small one with 3 pans) or the ABH contouring kit (with 6 larger pans) and use the light powders to set my concealers under my eyes and it help brighten really well!! Maybe that's all u need to help brighten under the eye, that way you will be able to also "bake" and set your concealer too vs mixing two or more colors together!

  6. This is Amber, not Kyle (my boyfriend) but it wont let me switch accounts for some reason?? But anyways, just wanted to clear that up lol!

I'm so happy you did this review! The Loreal Infallible foundation has been a long time favorite of mine, I currently use it everyday, and have been very curios about the concealer. I currently use Shape Tape by Tarte, but before that I was using the Makeup Revolution concealer religously, so this review was super helpful and spot on for me! I totally understand what you mean by the scent it has, because the foundation has a smell good scent also! Now I'm curious if it's the same scent or not lol.

I cant wait to try this sometime! You and your blog are awesome girl!

  8. I have used the l'oreal concealer. I live the scent of it. And coverage is perfect for my old skin. I can not set it and bake as it just enhances the under eye wrinkles. With l'oreal I don't need to set it. Just blend and done.
