Kayali Citrus | 08 Fragrance Review

Hi, dolls!
Ever since I got my first bottle from Kayali, I truly fell in love with all of their fragrances. This year for Xmas, I asked for Citrus to complete my Kayali collection and thankfully, that's what I got! I currently have 4 of the 5 Kayali fragrances with Musk being on it's way to me. I have reviewed them all now, so you can read individual reviews using the links below. If you're interested to read more about Kayali Citrus, let's get right into the review!

This post may contain affiliate links meaning that if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. However, my reviews/opinions on products are always 100% honest and I'll only recommend items that I love!

Kayali means my imagination in Arabic and it was created by both Huda and Mona Kattan, who in fact is known as the Perfume Princess. I honestly think that if we're going to trust anyone when it comes to fragrance, it should be Mona. If you follow her on social media, you must know how big her perfume collection is and also, her perfume knowledge. I knew Kayali would be amazing from the start and it definitely didn't disappoint. Kayali's tagline is every layer of me and it actually focuses on layering fragrances to create your own, personal scent.

Top Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Rhubarb, Black Currant, Bergamot, Pink Pepper
Middle Notes: Bulgarian Rose, Damask Rose
Base Notes: Musk, Oakmoss, Tonka Bean

Citrus is described as a contemporary twist of innovation. Sparkling citrus notes of Italian Bergamot and Pink Grapefruit mingle with Rhubarb, Blackcurrant and Pink Pepper. Immaculate floral chords of Rose Centifolia and Rose Damascena from Bulgaria lie at its heart. A lingering veil of Musk, Tonka and mystical Oakmoss ground the hypnotic scent in nature. The number next to the perfume name, in this case the number 8 signifies the number of modifications that it took to get the scent right.

The opening gives me a burst of pink grapefruit, bergamot and roses. This Citrus isn't your traditional Citrus scent, which in my opinion makes it even more unique. Comparing it to my other Kayali fragrances, Citrus is definitely the 'lightest' out of the 4 I have. This isn't a bad thing because I know that not everyone likes heavy fragrances. Like all Kayali fragrances, Citrus is also an Eau de Parfum. Eau de Parfum has the highest concentration of fragrance - generally having a fragrance concentration of between 15% and 20%. On average, eau de Parfum should last from four to five hours, if not more. This differs from Eau de Toilette which has a fragrance concentration of between 5% and 15%. Eau de Toilette is definitely one of the most popular types of fragrance and it is definitely cheaper than eau de Parfum (in case some of you were wondering why Kayali's price is high) but it will normally only last for two to three hours.
I also have to talk about the bottle of this fragrance - it looks so elegant and classy. I love how beautiful the packaging looks and the diamond cap makes it even more unique. On many occasions you get an expensive fragrance in simple packaging but with Kayali you not only get a high quality of fragrance but also a stunning packaging that makes it even more exciting to have. I appreciate the fact that it's possible to get the Kayali testers before actually making a purchase because that makes it easier for you to find your perfect scent. This is especially important if you cannot afford to buy all 5 and want to ensure you make the right decision. Testers can also help with layering, as it allows you to try different layers and see which scents would work together for you to create your perfect scent.

Final Thoughts
It's not a secret that I have a little obsession with Kayali and their fragrances lol! I think that all 5 scents are super different from each other but at the same time very unique and special and I do truly love every single one of them. Citrus is a very light fragrance from their range, it's not a typical Citrus scent that you'd expect which in this case makes it so much more special and unique. I appreciate the combo of roses with the pink grapefruit and pink pepper - it makes the scent very refreshing and perfect for Summer. This is a scent I'd reach for in the mornings, before or after working out and definitely in Summer. One thing I would say about this Citrus is that it's not as long lasting as the other Kayali fragrances but this also goes with what I said about this scent being lighter than the others. For example, Elixir and Deja Vu, which I think are the heaviest, stay on you all day. With Citrus, I find myself reapplying this on more often throughout the day but I still like it and appreciate the scent.

I love Kayali fragrances with all my heart and I can honestly recommend you all to check them out but I don't recommend buying perfumes without trying them first. I've created a little quiz which might help you decide which Kayali fragrance would be best for you, so check it out and let me know what you got!

Let me know in the comments if you have tried the Kayali fragrances yet and if so, which is your favourite? My favourite has to be Vanilla but I truly love them all! Check out my other Kayali reviews linked above.

    1. My obsession with fragrance started in early 2020 and I don’t regret having a big collection because each fragrance is so special and something I use on a daily basis ✨
I agree that with a scent it has to be unique for everyone but maybe there’s a different Kayali scent that would work for u! xo

  8. Your quiz suggested I try Kayali Elixir | 11

An ultra-addictive scent, ELIXIR | 11 opens with sweet notes of Red Apple and Rose Petal Essence, before revealing a floral heart of Rose Centifolia and uplifting touches of Jasmine Sambac from India. Adding depth to the romantic fragrance, warm woody notes of Indonesian Patchouli and velvety Amber are enveloped by accents of Vanilla, leaving behind a long-lasting trail.
